Make Room
There is a rhythm to walking with God,
a rhythm of commitment, trust, and release.
Psalm 37:5 reminds us that when we commit our way to the Lord and trust in Him,
He will bring it to pass.
Not us.
Not our striving.
Not our overthinking.
Him.
But for God to bring something to pass, we must first make room.
Sometimes the hardest place to make room is in the places we've carried the longest:
- The plan we're afraid to release
- The timeline we thought would be faster
- the fear we don't want to admit
- the calling that feels too big
- the obedience that stretches us
We say, "Lord, move,"
Yet we're still holding the reins.
Making room is not losing control. It's putting control back into the hands of the One who has never lost a battle. It's the moment we stop asking God to bless our plan and start asking Him to align us with His.
It's saying:
"God, you can have this all of it.
I trust You to bring to pass what I cannot."
Surrender clears space.
Trust anchors us.
Obedience positions us.
God moved when Noah obeyed.
God moved when Joshua stepped into the Jordan.
God moved when Peter let down his net again.
And He moves when we unclench our grip and make room for Him to be God.
Sometimes what we think is a delay is actually God waiting for our surrender.
He can't fill what we refuse to empty.
Making room is an invitation:
"Lord, do what only You can do."
And He will because Psalm 37:5 promises He shall bring it to pass.
Your job is surrender.
His job is results.
Make room.
Release the outcome.
Let God move.
Heart Reflections
- What am I still trying to bring to pass on my own?
- What fear makes surrender difficult for me?
- Where is God nudging me to trust Him more deeply?
- What step of obedience do I need to take to make room for Him to work?
Write these down and sit with God in them.
Prayer
Father, I commit my way to You today.
Every plan, every burden, every fear, every desire, I place it in Your hands.
Teach me to trust You completely and obey You quickly.
Make room in my heart for Your will, Your direction, and Your peace.
Bring to pass what only You can do.
In Jesus' name, amen.
