Trusting Beyond Understanding: A faith-filled perspective

We can trust God's working things out even when we can't see how". ~Lysa Terkeurst

When my husband decided to restart his business, I initially felt apprehensive. However, we both strongly believe in the vision and the potential for success despite facing external challenges we may face. As the business progressed, we encountered various uncertainties and difficulties. Occasionally, we contemplated whether our best efforts would lead to a desired outcome. Nevertheless, we remained persistent in our purpose, took steps of faith, and trusted that God would align our way. We accept that we can lean on the One who holds all the answers in challenging situations.

There is a gentle encouragement in Proverbs 3:5; "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. We are encouraged to trust the Lord and not rely on our knowledge. Trusting in something greater than ourselves and having faith can bring us peace. Sometimes, we may not fully understand, but trusting God is worth the risk. It means putting our lives on the line for something we cannot see, like a job or the next paycheck. Despite the uncertainty, taking risks builds our trust in the Lord. Even in the face of the unknown, we can take comfort in knowing that God goes before us. He is always faithful and rewards us for the risks we take to follow Him.

As a woman of God, I realized that encountering face-to-face life difficulties just because I felt it did not make it real. Do not allow your heart to a sea of emotions whisked away; instead, stand in His word, character, and faithfulness. His plans are always good, even if they do not feel good at that moment. Fill up your heart and mind with faith, trust, and obedience. Build your confidence by looking for the small, personal moments of God's goodness and care toward us. Feel solace in feeling seen, celebrating even the most minor victories, acknowledging the strength gained through hardships, and witnessing the daily divine beauties He displays in front of you. He will show up in ways you never expected, lavish you with his steadfast love through wonders, big or small, and give you His strength to act on the promises and directives of God.

I do not know what hard realities you are facing today, but I do know this: The enemy is in a full-out war against everything good, sacred, and pure. He is the father of lies who wants us to believe that if our situations fall apart, so do we. We do not have to have all the answers to have faith. We do not have to understand what God is doing to trust him. We do not have to figure out our present circumstances; we must trust God.

Holding onto God's unwavering love is where we find ourselves surrendering to Him even when the answers to our questions elude us, and we allow him to empower us in every situation. Our faith flourishes in obeying God's voice even when our situation seems impossible, choosing to sing when it is hard, and lifting our hands to praise him with joyful hearts when we are weak. It is where our hearts awaken to the allure of God's presence. It is where perspective shifts through the lens of God's faithfulness and promises, which are our armor and protection. We encounter every circumstance with hope, believing that God works all things for our good, even in our vulnerable struggles. In every situation, we allow God to comfort us with his presence, knowing that we do not have to have all the answers to stay connected to the one who does. Where our souls cling to the truth, He will renew our spirit, which is my soul. He reminds us that this season is not forever, and though our circumstances may not change now, our outlook certainly can. No matter what we are walking through today, we can walk confidently, trusting that God is with us and that He is with us and our peace. "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:7).

So sweet friend, our faith aids us in witnessing God's blessings, gifts, and miracles. Deepen our trust to see what comes your way as an opportunity instead of an inconvenience. Choose to stand on the only solid ground- the truth of God's word. His truth will not move with feelings. HIS truth will not drown in a sea of tears. His truth will not leave us even when our gut-honest cries do not sound so Christian. Even during circumstances that make everything around us feel uncertain. Even when the outcome is different than I hope, you will trust Him. He is present, even when others are absent. God does incredible things in the unseen. God loves you very much; he has a beautiful plan for you, and most importantly, His unwavering faithfulness is trustworthy.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

In moments of uncertainty, I come before You with a heart full of trust. Your ways are beyond my understanding, yet I believe in the wisdom of Your plan. Help me to surrender my worries and doubts, knowing that Your love surpasses all comprehension. Grant me the strength to walk in faith even when the path seems unclear. May Your presence be a guiding light, illuminating the steps I need to take. As I face challenges, help me trust that Your purpose is unfolding and Your goodness prevails. In moments of confusion, grant me peace that surpasses understanding, a peace rooted in the assurance of Your unwavering love. Teach me to lean not on my knowledge but to acknowledge You in all my ways, trusting that You will direct my paths. I place my trust in You, O Lord, knowing that Your plans are for my welfare and not for harm, to give me a future with hope. Strengthen my faith, deepen my trust, and let Your grace abound in my life. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
