When What We See Challenges What We Know: Holding Onto Truth in Uncertain Seasons

There comes a time in every believer's life when what we see seems to challenge everything we thought we knew. The prayers we whispered with faith seem unanswered. The path we expected to walk looks nothing like what we envisioned. The circumstances around us don't align with the promises we've held onto.

There was a time when I, too, faced financial struggles. In my heart, I held onto the belief that God would provide for me. His Word reassured me that He was my provider, saw my needs, and would never abandon me. But what I saw with my natural eyes told a different story. I saw uncertainty, instability, and fear creeping into my thoughts. The numbers didn't add up. The situation wasn't changing. And as much as I wanted to trust fully, my reality made that trust feel fragile.

Sometimes, as we walk in faith, what we feel and see challenge what we know about God.

Maybe you've been there, staring at a situation that doesn't make sense, wrestling with questions you never thought you'd ask. Perhaps right now, you're facing something that feels impossible to reconcile with what you know about God's goodness. And if you are, I want you to hear this: you are not alone.

The Challenge of Faith in Difficult Seasons

Faith is not just a beautiful concept; it's a transformative force. It's not always easy, and it doesn't always mean seeing the answers unfold immediately or feeling confident in the middle of the storm. But it's about trusting when everything around us says we should fear. It's about holding onto the truth when our emotions beg us to let go. It's about believing in the power of faith to change our circumstances.

It's important to acknowledge that faith and fear can coexist.

We often think moments of doubt mean our faith is weak, but that's not true. Weak moments of faith don't mean we lack faith; they mean God is teaching us something, revealing something we need to confront, refine, or surrender.

Walking in faith doesn't mean never feeling afraid. It means choosing to step forward even while fear lingers. It means standing firm even when uncertainty shakes us. Faith is not the absence of fear—it's the decision to trust despite it.

Picture Peter stepping out of the boat to walk on water toward Jesus (Matthew 14:29-31). Initially, he stepped forward with faith, his focus solely on Christ. However, as the storm intensified around him, his fear took over, causing him to start sinking. It wasn't that he lacked faith; instead, his fear shifted his gaze away from trusting Jesus. Nonetheless, even in doubt and with the crashing waves, Jesus reached out to save him.

Sister, the same is true for us.

God doesn't abandon us in our weak moments of faith. Instead, He uses them to strengthen, teach, and pull us closer. His presence is constant, even when our faith feels small. This reassurance of God's presence can bring comfort and peace in your faith journey.

So if you're struggling, if your faith feels small today, know this: even a mustard seed-sized faith is enough (Matthew 17:20). Even shaky faith still moves mountains. And even when what you see challenges what you know, God remains faithful.

Holding Onto Truth When Life Feels Uncertain

Faith is not about never struggling or always feeling strong. It's about believing that God remains faithful, even when our circumstances make us question what we thought we knew.

Sarah waited.

Esther stepped forward despite the fear.

Hannah prayed through the pain.

Mary surrendered, even without understanding.

And through it all, God proved faithful.

Sister, your story is still unfolding.

You might be feeling unsure today, or perhaps you're in a period where your faith seems weak. Yet even a wavering faith has the power to move mountains. Even quiet prayers are heard. Even slow steps forward are proof that you are still holding on.

Whatever you see around you right now—whatever situation is making you wrestle with doubt or fear—remember this:

🌿 God is still writing your story.

✨His timing is impeccable, even if it takes longer than expected.

šŸ’™ You don't have to have all the answers—you just have to trust the One who does.

Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep believing. Even when your vision challenges your knowledge, remember that God is faithful. His love and presence remain unwavering, even amidst our doubts and fears. Trust in His faithfulness to guide you through your journey. If today feels heavy—if waiting, fear, or unanswered prayers make you question your beliefs—know this: you are not alone. You are seen, loved, and held by a faithful God. Even when your perceptions contradict your understanding, God is at work. What we see is just a tiny part of the bigger picture. He is actively revealing and orchestrating events. Stay strong, sister. His faithfulness endures, providing security and stability on your faith journey.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your unwavering faithfulness, even amid our struggles and uncertainties. We come before You today with hearts that may feel heavy and weary, asking for renewed strength and clarity. Help us to trust You more deeply, especially when our circumstances challenge what we believe.

Lord, remind us that it is okay to feel fear and doubt; it does not define our faith in You. Teach us to rely on Your Word's promises and hold onto the truth that we are never alone. Just as you reached out to Peter, reach out to us in our moments of weakness and help us to see your guiding hand in our lives. Encourage us to step forward with faith, no matter how small it may feel. May we find comfort in knowing that our stories are still unfolding under Your perfect timing? Help us seek You in our waiting and trust that You are working on everything for our good.

Thank you for loving us and holding us close. May we rest in Your peace and find joy in the journey, knowing You are faithful. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
