Hurting but Still Trusting: Embracing Our Human Journey

Hurting but still trusting—that encapsulates the beautiful complexity of our human journey. As godly women, we often find ourselves navigating the tension between our pain and our faith. Trusting God doesn’t mean we turn a blind eye to our reality; rather, it invites us to acknowledge our circumstances while simultaneously recognizing God’s sovereignty—His absolute power to work in ways we may not fully understand.

When we place our trust in God, it must be rooted in His unchanging promises, not dependent on whether our circumstances or the people around us change. Our hope lies in the goodness that God will ultimately bring forth from our situations, even if it doesn’t align with our immediate desires. And let’s be real: sometimes, this process takes time. It often calls for perseverance and patience—qualities that can feel overwhelming when we are in the thick of it.

I know how easy it is to long for the blessings promised in Psalm 40:4: “Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust.” Yet, I often forget that such deep trust is often forged in the crucible of longsuffering. God isn’t punishing us; instead, He is inviting us to experience the depth of His promises in a personal way.

This journey isn’t easy, and I want to take a moment to lean in and whisper this truth to you: God is working things out. He’s not distant or disengaged. He is right here with us, even when our prayers feel unanswered or when our circumstances seem messy. We can trust in God’s goodness, even when we can’t see the bigger picture.

As we navigate this challenging terrain together, let’s remind each other of the following:

1. Acknowledge Your Reality: It’s okay to feel hurt, confused, or overwhelmed. Acknowledge those feelings; they are valid and part of your journey.

2. Hold on to God’s Promises: When you feel like everything is changing around you, remember that God’s promises are steadfast and true. They are your anchor.

3. Practice Patience: Trusting God’s timing can be challenging, but it’s essential. Allow yourself the grace to wait and grow in the process.

4. Lean on Each Other: You don’t have to walk this journey alone. Reach out to friends, family, or your faith community for support and encouragement.

5. Embrace God’s Presence: In the midst of your struggles, remember that God is not only with you but actively working on your behalf. Trust that He is good, even when circumstances don’t reflect that goodness.

So let’s journey together, holding tight to our trust in God, even in our hurting. Together, we can embrace the beauty of our faith, knowing that God is crafting something beautiful from our struggles. Keep trusting, keep hoping, and remember: He is right there with you.
